Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Loky and your lock's security.

About the flaw

Not necessarily. A reinforced door protects against forced entry, but if the lock cylinder is vulnerable, a burglar can exploit it without touching the door itself. Reinforcement and cylinder protection are complementary.

The cylinder (or barrel) is the part of the lock where you insert your key. It's the mechanical component that enables locking and unlocking. It's usually visible and accessible from outside your door.

Bumping involves using a specially cut key (bump key) which, when struck, aligns the pins in the cylinder and allows it to open. Picking uses thin tools to manipulate the pins one by one. Both techniques are silent and leave virtually no trace.

If your cylinder protrudes from the door on the outside, if it's not fitted with a security escutcheon, or if it hasn't been changed in over 5 years, there's a good chance it's vulnerable. Take our test for a quick assessment.

About Loky

Loky is a patented mechanical protection that fits around your cylinder and physically prevents any grip from the outside. Without a grip on the cylinder, it's impossible to pick, bump or snap it.
